Coaching and Mentorship

Individualized Coaching For Engineers and Leaders

There is no one size fits all approach for an industry with diverse paths. My approach is to work with you to determine your unique needs and help you reflect on the career you’ve led, to determine the best path forward to achieve your goals.

Don’t know what you want? Then you’ve come to the right place.

I’ve explored much of this industry without a long term roadmap. From breaking into tech, to trying out different domains and technologies, to exploring team building and management, let me use my experience to help you grow your skillset and career path.

While I work with engineers of all backgrounds and experience levels, I particularly enjoy working with Womxn, BIPOC, and members of other underrepresented groups in technology to drive diversity in our field.

Some of the services I offer include:

  • Resume writing and review
  • Interview training, both technical and cultural, for interviewees AND interviewers
  • Talk sessions – It’s like therapy, but for your career!
  • Job search assistance
  • Leadership and Hiring consulting
  • So much more – reach out if you don’t see what you’re looking for here!

“Robby helped me figure out the type of environment I can do my best work in, and what questions I should ask to identify those traits. Talking to Robby felt like talking to multiple mentors — he’s worked in so many different environments and on so many different projects. He has great insight into how engineers fit into different types of organizations and is willing to give his honest opinions. He’s great at leading productive conversations, letting you vent while guiding the topic towards finding a way forward.”
Tara Y., Software Engineer – Pluralsight

“Though my career as a software developer was going well, I was unsure which direction I wanted to take my career and was looking for some guidance.  I knew Robby from when he guest lectured at General Assembly, so I already knew he was a great teacher and communicator. When I saw that he was offering career coaching I decided to give him a try.  Robby helped me articulate my goals and figure out what I actually wanted to do with my career, helped me figure out the next steps I needed to take, and has helped me prepare for the interview process.  Robby has been really great to work with – he is enthusiastic about the people he works with and passionate about helping people figure out what they want to do with their careers and how to accomplish it.  He is smart, skilled, and knowledgeable about the tech scene, and a great communicator.  He is well versed in the interview process and able to break things down so that preparing for it is less daunting.  He has also been able to help me navigate day-to-day issues with my current job by drawing on his past experience.  I highly recommend Robby for anyone looking to take the next step in their career.”
Jennifer M., Senior Software Engineer

“I could tell from our very first conversation that Robby is someone with a genuine desire to help people shine while also being conscious of meeting people where they are at. Working with Robby helped me to develop strategies to actively overcome my weaknesses instead of avoiding situations that would expose them. On top of all that, whether it was a last-minute pair programming sesh or quick coffee chat, Robby has always been a ton of fun to work with and an amazing mentor!”
Kori P., Software Engineer – PathAI

“Robby’s an extremely understanding and supportive mentor. He wants to know what you’re looking to achieve and how he can leverage his experiences and connections to help get you there. He’s also someone I turn to for dispelling thoughts of self-doubt, which I personally find extremely common. I find myself turning to Robby for both small questions and big decisions alike and trust that he will always give me his brutally honest opinion and have my best interest in mind.”
